Cesar Rubio

Born: Mexico City, Mexico
Joined Ballet Tucson: 1998

A native of Mexico, Mr. Rubio began his dance training with Ballet El Paso under the direction of Ingeborg Hoiser.  He received dance scholarships to the University of Texas at El Paso as well as the University of Arizona School of Dance.  He has worked with noted choreographers such as Sherry Zunker Dow, Mia Michaels and Frank Chavez and has performed works by George Balanchine, Paul Taylor, Antony Tudor and James Clouser.  As a dancer and performer, he has traveled to Amsterdam, Germany, London, Scotland and Venezuela and has been invited to teach in Mexico, Sweden, Thailand, Japan and throughout the United States.  During his tenure with Ballet Tucson, his roles have included Trepak and Snow King in The Nutcracker, Dancing Master and Stepsister in Cinderella, Enchanted Bluebird in Sleeping Beauty, Puck in A Midsummer Night’s Dream, Prince Siegfried in Swan Lake, Act II, and Dr. John Seward in Dracula.  He has also danced in numerous original works by Sam Watson, Jeffrey Graham Hughes, Lawrence Pech, Mark Schneider, Mary Beth Cabana, Chieko Imada and Mia Hansen.  Mr. Rubio’s choreography has been performed by Ballet Tucson, the University of Arizona School of Dance, Ballet Neo-Clasico in Mexico City, Ballet El Paso and Up With People Asian Tour 2005.
