Dottie Southerland

Dottie received her Bachelor’s Degree in Political Philosophy/Public Affairs (Magna Cum Laude) from Georgia State University with honors in 1993.  She was awarded the Georgia State University President’s Plaque for Outstanding Academic Excellence (an award given to only three students).  In August 2001, she received her Master’s Degree in Business Administration/(MIS) from the Eller School at University of Arizona.

Dottie has served as guest speaker and advisor for various tourism summits and organizations for the past nineteen years.  Her academic studies and years of experience have taken her to over 20 countries both as a consultant and educator.
In addition to her travels, Dottie also edits business textbooks for various publishers.

In 2003, Dottie and her daughter  Katie started Katie’s Heart, a non-profit charity dedicated to providing new toys for Southern Arizona kids in hospitals and cancer centers.  They also provide stuffed bears for Southwest Ambulance drivers.

Dottie has been a full-time member of the business faculty at Pima College since 1995.
