Edward Oyarce-Solomon

Edward Oyarce-Solomon grew up in the San Francisco Bay Area where he began his dance training in a variety of styles. During his high school years Edward trained extensively under Mark Foehringer, and Brian Fisher-Paulson focusing primarily on Ballet, Contemporary, and Modern styles. During this time Edward was first exposed to choreography and teaching, having the opportunity to assist with setting a work on students of San Jose State University. In his high school, Edward was responsible for choreographing several large performance pieces for his classmates as well as teaching and choreographing on the hip hop class for their end of year show. After high school he attended University of Southern California Glorya Kaufman School of Dance from which he graduated summa cum laude. During his time there he had the opportunity to deepen his understanding of various dance styles including Hip hop, vernacular and concert Jazz, and contemporary techniques. Edward also explored his own choreographic work while attending university, creating several solos for his classmates as well as co-choreographing as a part of USC Visions and Voices, a university-wide arts and humanities initiative. This will be Edward’s second season with Ballet Tucson. He believes that understanding and appreciation for the forms being taught as well as never losing sight of the joy that dance can bring is paramount for student learning. Edward could not be more excited to be working with the students of The School of Ballet Tucson this year!
