All young dancers ages 6โ19 of Southern Arizona are welcome to audition!
There is nothing more memorable for ballet dancers of all ages than performing in the treasured classical ballet The Nutcracker each holiday season. Student dancers have the special opportunity to join Ballet Tucsonโs professional dancers onstage in our award-winning production to bring this magical tale to life for our Southern Arizona community. They will also experience the grandeur of performing at The Linda Ronstadt Music Hall while dancing to Tchaikovskyโs iconic score performed live by the world-class musicians of the Tucson Symphony Orchestra.

Dates: December 18-20, 2026 (five performances total)

Audition Details
Saturdays, August 15th and August 22nd, 2026
Location: The School of Ballet Tucson, 200 S. Tucson Blvd.
A completed Audition Form and a $100 Performance Fee are required to participate.

SPIRIT GARDEN AND OVATION (A World Premiere)

SBT level 4-7 students have the opportunity to audition for a major Ballet Tucson production! This fall we present Chieko Imadaโs Spirit Garden, a ballet tribute to Dรญa de los Muertos featuring artwork by Southwest artist Lawrence Lee and music by Calexico and guitarist Misael Barraza-Diaz, as well as the world premiere of Ovation choreographed by Ballet Tucson artistic leaders Margaret Mullin, Chieko Imada, and Brik Middlekauff, celebrating our school and professional companyโs 40 years of excellence in classical ballet.

HANSEL AND GRETEL
Exclusive to School of Ballet Tucson students
SBT students ages 6-19 have the opportunity to perform in Hansel and Gretel, a family-friendly matinee with guest artists from the Ballet Tucson professional company. These matinee performances are open to the public in collaboration with the Childrenโs Museum Tucson, Live Theatre Workshop, and Le Macaron French Pastries. This one-act iconic story ballet brings the beloved fairytale to life on stage with a live narrator, offering dancers a meaningful performance experience in a production designed especially for families and young audiences.
Two matinees will be offered, including a sensory-friendly performance, specially adapted with adjusted lighting and sound levels to make the experience more comfortable for individuals with sensory sensitivities.
