Attire and footwear requirements vary based on class and level, so please read all guidelines provided below carefully to ensure you are properly prepared for each class. Students not dressed properly will be asked to observe class.
A leotard and tights or activewear that doesn’t constrict your movement is recommended.
Pink or flesh/skin-colored footed or convertible tights for Ballet based classes (convertible tights are preferable for Levels 4 and above due to Preparation for Pointe and Pointe classes)
Black Leotard for all classes (simple, not too many decorations or straps)
Short or high-low black skirts for Classical Variations classes only
Black shirts and black tights are to be worn for Jazz, Modern, Tap and Lyrical classes only. Black form-fitting shorts are acceptable for Tap class.
A t-shirt, jogger pants or lightweight baggie sweatpants (plain, no patterns) are to be worn for Hip Hop and Improvisation classes only.
*Creative Movement and Pre-Ballet students may option to wear light pink leotard
*Level 7 students may wear colored leotards for Saturday classes only.
Students must change into the standard weekday dress code for all Nutcracker/Showcase rehearsals.
Black footed tights for all Ballet based classes
White or Black solid fitted t-shirt or leotard for all Ballet based classes
Dance Belt for all classes
Black shirts and black tights are to be worn for Jazz, Modern, Tap and Lyrical classes only. Black form-fitting shorts are acceptable for Tap class.

Bare feet for Bollywood class
If you identify as she/her or they/them,Pink or flesh/skin-colored ballet slippers for Ballet class (full sole recommended for young dancers). If you identify as he/him or they/them, Black Ballet Shoes or White Socks with White Ballet Shoes.
Black pull-on Jazz shoes for Jazz class
Pointe Shoes for various classes depending on level (must be approved by the instructor or Artistic Staff)
Either Converse, Vans, or Keds sneakers for Hip Hop class (MUST be worn in the studio ONLY)
Ankle socks for Lyrical and Improvisation class
Tap shoes for all Tap classes (no split soles). Our instructor recommends the following styles (available at Danswest Danswear in Tucson):

Hair must be neatly tied away from the face and put up in a secure bun for all ballet classes. Secure ponytails are permitted for Jazz, Tap, Modern, Lyrical, Hip Hop, Improvisation and Conditioning classes only.
No watches or jewelry of any kind in classes or rehearsals (except small pierced earrings).
For colder weather: tight fitting, waist high or full body leg warmers are acceptable for barre work only, as the teacher permits.
DO NOT wear dance shoes, including Hip Hop sneakers, outside as this will damage the floors.
DO NOT wear dance clothes outside. This policy reflects concern for the safety of our students. A cover-up over dance clothes is required.
DO NOT use fabric softener on dance clothes or apply lotion before class as this will damage the floors.
